The
law creating the dollar coin also specified that the dollar bill would
continue. (Jobs at Bureau of Engraving and Printing combined with
Americans not liking change, and voting out people that bring about
change.) Had it been discontinued we wouldn't be having the golden dollar
lack of use problem now. No other country keeps both paper and coin in the
same denomination.
