Actually, I find myself a bit bemused at all this talk about freedom to use Imperial in the UK. I am convinced that, if the United States converted to metric in a manner similar to that used by Australia, Imperial usage would rapidly disappear from the UK as well (and the government in power would find a way to convert road signs to boot).
