So, can we say these organizations comprised of people? Thus the people have in fact made a choice. does it matter if the people represent industry or not? Or is it only people who choose imperial those that count as the people and those that choose metric count as the state?

Where is the separation being the people and the state?

Certainly not "the people".

Yes indeed, who did ask for it? Some people must have? It wasn't the birds and the bees. Where do you draw the line between those people who want it and those who don't and those who don't care? I'm part of the people so if I want it, shouldn't I get it?

In my previous response to this I should have said that in fact it was Industry (in the guise of the Confederation of British Industry or CBI) and the British Standards Institute (BSI) among others. It certainly wasn't a unilateral decision by politicians.
