In the London double level buses I noticed a sign above the driver:

"HEIGHT 4390 MM / [I forget what it was in FFU]"

In the UK tall vehicles must have a sticker displayed inside the driver's area expressing the height in feet and inches. It is only an option to display DCO units alongside.

In the UK the past couple of weeks I noticed a lot of real estate ads that
gave the area of the office, or apartment, or house, in square meters. Some
also gave square feet, but pretty much everyone gave it in square meters.

Are you sure?
Office buildings are almost always advertised in sq ft (and sold as such). Rarely you see sq m as well as sq ft. Signs with sq m only are very very rare.

Houses, on the other hand, are sold not by sq ft but by length and width of each room. Most show ft/in but some have m too.

When I sold my last house the estate agent brochure described my living room as :-

"23ft, 3in long (30 m)"

No-one questioned the fact that if I had a 30 metre long living room I would have made a lot more money on it! Not one person mentioned the mistake however my brochure would have gone out to hundreds of potential customers (the succesful ones being a young couple). The reason why the issue was not raised at al,l I believe, is obvious.
