There are no "real" or any other type of pints in Europe and anywhere else for that matter. The word pint is used as a SLANG term for glass or if a specific amount is meant it is 500 mL as we have seen. Nobody in Europe uses ounces or defines things with ounces.

20 ounces to you is 568 mL. 20 ounces in the US is 591 mL Two different amounts. So you didn't "see" a "real pint" in the US either. Without the use of the millilitre to clarify, you are fooled into believing the ounces are the same in the US and UK. What does it take to get you to understand they are not the same?

A "real pint" in Europe is commonly 20 floz.

I've also seen "real pints" or "traditional pints" in the US at 20floz.

I know this because I've "seen" them. That's "seen".

That is what metric opponents want you to believe. Every country has their weights and measures laws and they are enforced. If there is an appearance that there aren't any prosecutions it just means that the laws are being obeyed.

There is no such thing as real pints. A pint is whatever the person using the word wants it to be. It can mean 568 mL in the UK or 473 mL in the US, 500 mL in the US hard liquor and wine trade, 500 mL everywhere in Europe and in many cases just another term for a glass.

If mainland Europe is less strict on W&M the time is long overdue for change in that regard. Zero tolerance to UK and USC units. The presence of so-called ' real pints' in mainland Europe is a disgrace and should be stamped out. i would boycott any business in mailand Europethat uses British pints and I hope that this nonsense will stop once and for all in 2010.

Can't you see that the post was meant in the style of humour?
Perhaps adopting a sense of that would help rather than find every
opportunity to chuck insults at someone, by name, who does not even post
    here?

Besides - the rules in (mainland) europe seem to be less strict on W&M than Britain (ironically). I have found "real" pints* in France, Spain and more
    recently Hungary.
