The currency throughout the United Kingdom is the pound. Scotland is part of
the United Kingdom and therefore does not have its own currency.

In addition to the Bank of England, pounds notes are issued in the UK by:
3 Scottish banks
4 Northern Ireland banks

Each note is backed by the equivalent value in Bank of England notes.
Acceptance of any note in the UK is a matter for agreement between the
parties.
