The BWMA, like UKMA is a very small outfit. I doubt that most people know either.

Rooms are measure, not in sq ft, but in feet/in length and width. Some places quote metres too.

Subject: [USMA:34302] visitors from the UK Date: Tue, 6 Sep 2005 19:22:26 -0700

Hello everyone. This afternoon i had a chance to have a little talk with 2 visitors from the UK. I asked them about metric. They had never heard of the BWMA. They were probably in their mid fifty's. They said that most people over 40 had some trouble with metric. They had rented a motor home here in Canada. I asked them if they had any trouble with the km speedometer and they said no. I asked about tesco's they said that prices are given in both with the metric first. They still weigh people in stones but they said they are slowly changeing to kg. I asked if you go to the doctor and get weighed is it still in stones they said yes. I found it kind of interesting that they had never heard of the BWMA if you listen to the BWMA they make it sound like every Britt is on their side. These people i talked to didn't seem angry at all about metric. I asked them if when houses are listed for sale are they measured by sq ft. They said no just by the number of rooms so they don't use sq m either. I would have liked to talk to them longer but we were on the bus and we both arrived at our stop at the same time. Just thought i would pass on this info. John Mercer.
