It's the same in the UK. No one political party can take any credit for doing the right thing over metrication, and both the major parties have let us down one way or another. Interestingly, one particular leading figure, Lord (Geoffrey) Howe of Aberavon, a former chancelor and deputy Prime Minister under the Thatcher government is working to correct the mistakes his goverment made in the early eighties. He's now patron of UKMA and his given many interviews on it. He holds his hands up and accepts his share of the blame. We don't often get such humility from politicians.

OK, we are truly off topic when we are trying to define or defend political agendas.

When are you guys going to unite on the metric cause and stop letting politics divide us?  There’s plenty blame for the U.S. non-metric status to go around.  Instead, what are you doing for the cause?  Talk is cheap, action is where you really stand.
