Three items I want to share:
1. Some years ago the subject of the traffic
Round-Abouts was brought to this forum. Just back from a trip to Central Europe,
I saw an explosion of those circles there. With vehicular density noticeably
greater than 3 years ago, traffic flowed without stopping in places where jams
were the norm earlier. Sorry Paul, I like those islands more and more. And as
Howard Ressel pointed out, accidents on them result in lighter
injuries and less damage. I just wish they'd build those circles in a uniform
diameter - some were tiny (going around a statue), some a km in
circumference.
2. The joule is getting ahead of calories in
general there. Although much of food labeling still states both units,
nutritionist, health nuts, exercise instructors seem to have switched
joules.
3. On this nutrition subject, the last
Metric Today had an article that I wish to comment on. The comment
is attached because it uses SI symbols that Outlook does not support. (For those
who do not get MT: The article mentions drinking cold water as a way to
mass-loss.)
