John, or any of our Canadian participants,

Do any of you have a picture of this 4-liter jug that you could post to the list, and also its approximate dimensions?

In my experience, the refrigerator door spaces in the U.S. are too narrow for the big, fat 3.785 L jug to fit into. Your 4 L jug must be more cube-shaped, like the cranberry juice jug written about in Metric Today.

Subject: [USMA:37412] 4 l milk jugs

Hello. I would like to comment on 4 l milk jugs not fitting in fridge doors in the states. In Canada where i live the 4 l jug fits in the fridge door. My wife and i have purchased 1 gal milk jugs from the states and they fit in the fridge door just the same as the 4 l jug. I could be wrong but i wouldn't think appliance companys would make fridges with different size doors one for Canada and one for the states. I have felt the 1 gal jugs from the states and the are very close in size to the 4 l jugs. Does anyone know if the 4 l jug is taller or wider than the 1 gal jug? Have a great day john mercer.
