Of course, the pound is closer to 500 grams so, when america goes metric, there will probably be the tendency to sell butter in 500 grams packages. Then, the quarters, or "sticks". would be 125 grams. Perhaps not as neat numerically, but still simple and acceptable, I think.

Thinking on this further, why not have a 500 gram package divided into five 100 gram parts. They would not be long skinny things (which is what sticks are, explaining why the word 'stick" is used). I'm going to go measure a stick of butter and see how this might work. ... be back in a flash with the results ....
