Harry Wyeth et al:
Global warming? How'd this get into this discussion?
We've been in a natural period of global warming since the little Ice
Age during the 1600s which was preceded 500 years earlier by the Medieval
Warm Period which allowed the Norse to farm Greenland. It's like summer
coming after winter only on a longer period. Global warming we have now is
part of longer natural cooling and warming cycles.
What can we do? Adapt like those in the past. Let's get off the
hysteria.

Compel the federal government to act? Lots of luck. A major change of
administration in two years might be helpful, but even then don't count on
it. And let's face it, there are more pressing things, like global
warming, a decent health care system, andonandonandon........
But US influence in the world is gradually waning, and perhaps in another
50 years or so things will turn up.

Sad to say, but much of what Harry writes is the truth.
Which brings up a question. How do we compell the Federal Government to
start (re-start) metrication efforts?
