In my 1999 Saab 9-5 there is a documented option for the car's display. You
push two buttons simultaneously and one of the following four choices can
easily be selected.

USA - Full Wombat. F, miles, gallons, 12 hr clock.
UK 1 - F, miles, liters, 12 hr clock.
UK 2 - C, miles, liters, 12 hr clock.
Metric - Full SI. C, km, liters, 24 hour clock.

I may be a bit off on what appears on the two UK versions.

No one need ask what setting is in my car.
