I totally agree. The KISS method (keep it simple stupid) system works best! Our critics seize on every opportunity to make SI sound complex by stressing stuff such as ares vs hectares, micrometers, deciliters, et al, when all the average Joe needs to know is how far stuff is, how much it weighs, and how much space it occupies. I personally like to use centimeters for lots of stuff, but if you know what a meter is, that will suffice.
