Dear Jesse and All,
You may be interested in a new article that I have written on the
issue of prefix choice. It is called, Whole number rule and you will
find it at the very bottom of my articles web page at: http://
www.metricationmatters.com/articles
I have been following the discussion about centimetres and
millimetres quite closely because as many of you know I have
personally observed that many metric transitions have gone quickly,
smoothly, and economically using millimetres and that metric
conversions go slowly, painfully, and at great cost using centimetres.
I simply observed this by working on many different metric
transitions in many different industries. The gist of my findings is
contained in the article, 'centimetres or millimetres — which will
you choose?' that you can find near the top of the web page: http://
