No, I don't think that is neces sarily so!
We all agree that the whole metric sy tem is the most appropriate
measuring system to use for everything, but the U.S. public and our
politicians still don't use it.
A fair point. I was thinking of metric countries in which the
"cultural" clash would not be relevent. Given that both mm and cm are
familiar there, I would expect that the more convenient unit would tend
to be adopted.
