Dear All,

As you know, I have written about the size of pints of beer before. I have observed that when you order, 'A pint of beer, please', you typically get some beer served in a 'pint' glass that could only hold a pint when it is filled completely to the brim of the glass. Usually the 'pint' consists of 500 millilitres of beer and about 70 millilitres of beer. In short, drinkers get a 500 millilitre 'pint' in almost all pubs in the UK. In fact, I think that it is near impossible to receive a 'pint of beer in a 'pint' glass.

At least one of the local government authorities in the UK now wants to do something about this, see http://www.lep.co.uk/news/Drinkers-must-be-served-full.4862328.jp for details.

Cheers,

Pat Naughtin
