A "pint" served in such a way would be illegal in the UK. Plus the look on the
customer's face and he ensuing complaints would stamp it out in moments.

Sorry - that just does not happen.

P.S. Some froth is allowed but not the amount mentioned (plus you can ask for a
top up after it's settled for a moment)

Subject: [USMA:42293] A 500 mL pint please
Date: Sun, 11 Jan 2009 06:12:56 +1100

Dear All,
As you know, I have written about the size of pints of beer before. I have
observed that when you order, 'A pint of beer, please', you typically get some
beer served in a 'pint' glass that could only hold a pint when it is filled
completely to the brim of the glass. Usually the 'pint' consists of 500
millilitres of beer and about 70 millilitres of beer. In short, drinkers get a
500 millilitre 'pint' in almost all pubs in the UK. In fact, I think that it is
near impossible to receive a 'pint of beer in a 'pint' glass.
At least one of the local government authorities in the UK now wants to do
something about this, see
http://www.lep.co.uk/news/Drinkers-must-be-served-full.4862328.jp for details.
