John, I second the motion enthusiastically on your second proposal! The discord within the original USMB probably contributed significantly to its ineffectiveness. But, I don't think we can legislate that. That has to come from the sectors, i.e., the NAM should be fired up about metrication and then put forth their best qualified and most enthused candidate.
Paul The nominations made by the various sectors are important in getting pro-metric members, and the degree to which pro-metric members are sought out and offered for nomination/confirmation depend on the "full backing of the government" (Maurice Stans).
