The USMA list doesn't work like (for example) yahoogroups, where you can go on no-mail status but you are still part of the group, can send messages, but have to read messages on the web site. It's a listserv so you have to unsubscribe completely when you go on vacation. Fortunately it does not seem like a difficult process, using this link:
http://www.acns.colostate.edu/?page=listserv I'd like to stay on, so I could post observations, but the list gets a little too busy at weekends. I'll probably just go underground and write one message when I get back. However, I will have some access to e-mail so I can respond to individual messages sent directly. Stephen, I should probably have a way to contact you - you can answer off list. In hotmail you can order on any column - so you can order on 'From' select the page with - for random example - 'J' and simply cross the boxes and hit the delete button. Even easier - if he (er, or she) makes enough messages to fill a page of hotmail emails then you group them, click the 'column select' box and hit delete and you wipe out the whole page in one go. Once you've done this - simply order by date again and you have a much reduced list of emails. Surely that's possibly easier than the daunting process of re-subscription? _____ From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [USMA:44743] RE: Hooves vs feet Date: Sat, 18 Apr 2009 16:46:52 -0400 I too am getting a bit tired of the weekend sniping. I'll be going to the UK at the end of this month for two weeks, and will likely unsubscribe in order to keep e-mails from piling up on my BlackBerry which will get really expensive if there are a lot (also because I want to visit people, go places and ring bells, not camp out in front of a computer). This includes vets and farriers. To even mention this seems very nit-picky to me. I agree that this chat room atmosphere has changed the listserve for the worse. My response is to unsubscribe on Friday and resubscribe on Monday, and see what happens as a result. HARRY WYETH _____ Surfing the web just got more rewarding.
