I'm surprised.  In his book, The Solar Fraud, he extensively uses W/m² as a 
metric for land usage of alternative power.  BTW, I highly recommend the book.  
It has a few typos and some slightly outdated performance figures for 
"machines" but the physics is sound and it is all SI.
 
The tone will make a "greenie" scream with outrage, but I have yet to see his 
analysis or basic conclusions successfully challenged, other than the need for 
minor updates I mentioned.

BTW, I heartily recommend Prof. Hayden's newsletter http://EnergyAdvocate.com   
A jewel among energy newsletters (although somewhat reluctant to use W/m²) the 
articles are mostly metric, and, better yet, SI, although not consistently.
