By the way, do you think that a kilogram only mat like this, or even an ordinary robust, kilogram only, bathroom scale, could serve a useful purpose if it were placed just inside each classroom door? Just leave it there without comment.

Perhaps next to the scales you could fix a vertical scale for measuring height calibrated in millimetres!
