Pat,

This sounds like a good idea, but there is one major problem in the UK - it
is somebody called "Scrooge" who appears to live at 11 Downing Street - the
official residence of the Chancellor of the Exchequer ("Minister of Finance"
when translated into Australian)

Regards

Martin

Pat, you mean mass in kilograms.

Dear Gene,

Thanks for the critique, but I was quoting the advertisement where they used
the words, 'one's weight in kilos'.

By the way, do you think that a kilogram only mat like this, or even an
ordinary robust, kilogram only, bathroom scale, could serve a useful purpose
if it were placed just inside each classroom door? Just leave it there
without comment.

Perhaps next to the scales you could fix a vertical scale for measuring
height calibrated in millimetres!

I suspect that these two items would start numerous conversations and
questions about the choice of measuring units for the USA. Perhaps you could
then refer students to

Dear All, Here is an oddity where they say:

Functioning like any other standard bathroom scale,

this Doormat Scale will display one's weight in

kilos, so folks who aren't too used to the metric

system migth want to give this a pass since there is

 no lbs equivalent
