I also wrote them to suggest that they not combine units and subunits.

Displaying distances as a combination of both meters and centimeters is just
importing the idea of using feet and inches together; this is paradigm which is
alien to the structure of the metric system.

Dear All,

I found this page:
http://dailyappshow.com/home-design-app-mark-on-call-lets-users-trade-rooms-adds-metric-setting

And I responded as follows:

Dear Jerad Hill,

I notice that you have chosen the metric system units: “meters and centimeters”
or “centimeters only”.

Might I respectfully suggest that you have chosen an approach to metrication
that will fill your life with grief. See
http://www.metricationmatters.com/docs/ApproachesToMetrication.pdf especially
the paragraph at the bottom of page 4.

I say this as I have more than 40 years experience in building measurement
including on-the-job experience and working as a module writer and instructor
for Australian building trades. Our experience here is that metrication using
millimetres is quick (can be completed in a day), smooth (there is little
argument from contractors and sub-contractors because for the first time in
their lives they no longer have to use fractions of any kind), and economical
(after the first few days errors decrease to close to zero). See
http://www.metricationmatters.com/docs/centimetresORmillimetres.pdf which is a
long, complete, discussion of this issue – but it has a short summary on the
first 3 pages.
