Therein lies my specific issue - you say "Did Brussels really say that the
manufacturer couldn’t write on the box that there were 12 eggs inside".
Putting aside brussels for the mo - wouldn't the same argument suggesting
what's the harm in putting 12 eggs on the packet apply to anything - ie colour,
shape, smell, etc, *and* the Oz mass if the manuf. feels it might be usueful?
That's my position entirely. I'm ok with metric on packages as it goes but so
long as there's nothing obscene on a packet surely anything goes within reason
(you can't lie obviously - like claim that they're blue eggs only to find that
they're the same boring white/brown). Basic minimalist policing really.

As far as I know in the UK we have (from memory) Large, medium and small eggs.
Then the massive duck eggs or the tiny quail eggs. I seemed to remember that
there used to be a grade mark - not sure if that's still there as I do what the
normal punter does - take pack - open to see if the occupants are ok and look
good - make purchase. As far as packs - the normal packs are dozen - but I've
seen other multiples of 2. Again - common sense - it's the best way to hold
'em.

Hens lay eggs in different sizes. In the USA the eggs are sold by the dozen (2
x 6 rather than 4 x 3) with the various sizes indicated on the outside, from
small to jumbo.
