And that is the way it should be, if future employers must use American
imperial than let them teach their own employees. I must say is the an award
our letter of gratitude USMA can send to them?

I will only invest in nukes that are 150 gigameters away. How much solar energy
have you collected today?
Id put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we
dont have to wait til oil and coal run out before we tackle that. I wish I had
a few more years left. -- Thomas Edison♽☯♑

Bob,

In the STEM classes in the Urbana School District, the students learn *only* SI
units of measurement. There are no inch-pound measurements and no conversions
from inch-pound measurements to new numbers in SI units. That is not to say
that some teachers do not back slide to i-p units occasionally.

I have an invitation to examine the curriculum materials at some later meeting
with Tina.

I had a conversation yesterday with Tina Lehr, coordinator of STEM education in
the Urbana Illinois School District.
I am pleased to report that Tina has a good knowledge of SI and is actively
promoting SI in the District's curricula.
There is hope for SI in the USA! Gene Mechtly

Interesting program. Teachers get short summer interships to sample the kinds
of jobs they are preparing students
for.http://www.modbee.com/2012/02/23/2083439/common-ground.html On metric, one
teacher says, "It was nice to take back examples of places they could use this
in the future. There are expectations of things, like the metric system. Here
it's just something we teach, but people are expected to know this going into
the job." I'm glad he knows it now, but a little concerned that he didn't know
it before (he is a chemistry teacher).
