Noted this bit in the Examiner article:

Day two of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials
<http://tracktown12.gotracktownusa.com/> in Track & Field starts Friday,
June 22 at 1:00 p.m. PST. The big events of the day are the men's and
women's 10,000 meter finals beginning at 6:45 p.m. PST.

This being June, I would assume that means that day 2 started at 2:00 pm,
with the 10,000 meter finals beginning at 7:45 pm.

Well, the US Olympic trials for Track and Field are underway this weekend.
Naturally, field events in the Olympics, the national trials, etc are
entirely measured in metric and the qualifying standards are stated in
metric.

Some media coverage respects the original measurements and reports them
(with a few conversions thrown in afterwards)). This is the way it should
be reported:

(Yes, AP, the actual results, really measured in metric, ARE important to
the story. More important than some made-up, rounded number that WASN'T
measured.)

Others do their best to either pretend the metric system doesn't exist or no
sane person would use it to measure an athlete's performance in full
obediance to AP dictates:

(However, note that 2/3 down, one paragraph oddly switches to metric with no
comparison to the imperial preceeding it. Is the goal to make sure we don't
know what they are talking about?)
