As familiar as these two men are with international issues, I do not believe that either one of them can shout "metric" in a crowded America. I believe that the success of either candidate in realistically planting the seeds of U.S. metrication will require the accompanying inspiration and education for the American people. I don't think it works as a campaign issue, but it has always been available as a national goal, and either an elected Romney or a re-elected Obama may advance it. But, if either man supports its completion as President, hr must use the Presidential bully pulpit to do so. U.S. metrication has never been supported openly from the Oval Office, and I don't think it will succeed any other way.
