Penny Pritzker gave testimony on May 23 at a hearing on her nomination to become the new Secretary of the US
Department of Commerce (DoC). Her experience is in business enterprises, not in science or engineering projects. As you know, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is under the DoC. Ms. Pritzker's attitude toward adoption of SI in all sectors of the US is not revealed in her testimony. How can we persuade her to promote SI in all DoC activities, including domestic and foreign trade and commerce? Eugene Mechtly
