Yes, indeed, and I couldn't believe my ears. I had actually written Brian
Williams 20 or 30 years ago, I can't remember anymore, about please more
use of the Metric System in the media. I think I wrote all of the news
anchors at the same time, and of course my letters were ignored.
But to hear a doctor say on Nightly News that it is time to embrace the
Metric System, in front of millions of people, well, I practically fell out
of my chair.
Sadly, Brian Williams was not bright enough to see the full implications of
the advantages of a Metric America (A Decision whose Time has Come). He
kind of backtracked when he said "At least in this area."
Maybe we could get some positive twitter feeds of facebook posts out of
this and encourage the news media in general to take a more positive
viewpoint on increasing metric usage in the media in general.
