I was buying some electrical wire today, over here wire thickness/cross section is measured per square millimetre. I needed 100 m of 10 mm2 cable. One of the specs listed is the mass is 565 kg/km. Very easy to see this is 56,5 kg/100 m or 5,65 kg per 10 m or 56,5 grams per metre!
