I visited each Senate office at the Oregon Capital building yesterday
afternoon. Most senators were out, so I spoke with their subordinates or
left a paper in each empty office. I spoke with Senator Devlin (District
19) and Senator Hansel (District 29); those two do NOT support Senate
Bill 166. I got a lot of promises of an eventual response to my query. We
have three supporters and two non-supporters so far out of a total of
thirty senators. Senator Brian Boquist is the bill sponsor. Surprisingly
enough, he is a Republican.

Dear senators. Your support for Senate Bill 166 would help Oregon global
interoperability. It would also save needless child death due to parents
giving wrong doses of medication, mixing teaspoons up with milliliters.
Please let me know if you agree with Sen Steiner Hayward and Sen Chuck
Riley about whether you support SB 166. A simple Yes or No will do.

 Dear Mr. Pearl,
Thank you for reaching out to my office to express your support for Senate
Bill 166.  As I previously indicated, I will support this bill
establishing the International System of Units as Oregon’s official
system of measurement.
I appreciate your enthusiasm for SI and your dedication to expanding the
adoption of the metric system domestically.
Regards,
Sen. Chuck Riley
