Mark-- Yes, we agree: Democrats *used* to support metric, but they don't now, as indicated in the Chafee case. Republicans don't support metric *politically,* but business interests are gradually converting to it "under the radar." Neither political party will be public about the subject because -- excuse me -- a few loudmouths make it sound as if the whole country hates metric. Might I suggest: "fake news"?

I notice too that some technical fields are converting to metric, for example, nuclear. Most references that we hear now in nuclear energy, for example, are in sieverts. We don't hear many references to roentgens and rads, as we used to.

The new LED lighting business went immediately metric,in lumens. That's how to do it. No one complained that I ever heard.
