President Trump has a large number of things on his plate at the moment.

I think it would be overly optimistic to think that his seeing a completely metric article on FoxNews might tip him towards adding metrication to that melange. But one can dream, I suppose.

My guess would be that getting him to see metrication as a way of reducing the cost of doing business and improving our trade balance would be the way to go. Merchandising rather than metrology is more his forte.

Frankly, I don't see anything useful towards metrication coming out of this Congress and it's Congress, not the President who has the lead on this matter. Once the 2020 elections are behind us our odds of fomenting governmental activism might be a bit better. Currently each party is positioning their candidates towards greater success in that election.

We're a self-defeating organization!

You know, I was pretty happy about that all-metric news article. Then all the
"improvement" commenters weighed in.

Ah, well. I enjoyed that small metrication success until then.

Megajoules? Since when is the joule/area a unit in radiation?
Radiation is energy-flow thus power. Average insolation in the US is
usually considered of 200 W/m2 if my memory serves me right. So
Seattle might be
100 W/m2, or maybe 50 W/m2.

A better reference might be a clear, sunny day at the same latitude,
on the same date. I estimate around 14 MJ depending on exact

What would one "convert" it to? British Thermal Units per square
     yard? Horses per acre?

That's great but wouldn't it be better if there were some reference
points like how much solar energy other cities receive. The best
way to make metric work is to make it relevant in every day life. If
people want to understand km, learn the distances between cities,
kg--the weight (mass) of common objects, etc.

Foxnews published this article about the total insolation in

unit names). No "translation"! I posted a supportive comment.
