A friend recently asked about PIA on a post.

PIA a number closely related to PI and discovered accidently in a Fortran
program by a whiz kid who was trying to crack the NORAD Santa code to make
it metric. The Whiz kid is 13 and he did it on an old IBM XT his
grandfather gave him running DOS 2.1 and MS Fortran 3.03. He cracked NORAD
using assembler and Netscape.

When asked by his father why he used that computer he said if it is good
enough for grandad it is good enough for me and who needs 3.5 floppy
drives.

The number is (((PI squared)/(e squared)) - (square root of -1)) to the eth
power.

When asked by his math teacher the distance across the courtyard in
imperial he replied – 2 chains, 3 rods and 2000 barley corns – all
perfectly legal - this actually comes from a Wikipedia page on old English
railway stations

That was far too early for April 1st!

I was on my way to get a tin of tartan paint and was going to ask for one….

Yes that is the joke.

Its also left handed and right handed. My high school friend sent his mom
on a wild goose chase one year tell his mom (may she rest in peace) to get
him a left handed crescent wrench for Christmas. In reality however they
probably do make them but back then there was no internet to find it even
if there was.

Am I being a bit dim but - hear me out - the fact that its fully adjustable
means that it can ONLY be both imperial and metric?

Or should I have stayed awake more at metalwork at school?

Thought this is a good one to start off the new year.
