The Maestro? I had one in the late 90s and a bigger crock of brown stuff I never saw. The dashboard turned green and fell apart, the computer was prone to giving increasingly hysterical warnings about non-existant problems (although they could usually be considered a pre-emptive strike; perhaps if they had simply programmed the car to say "you fool! You bought a Maestro!"), the gearchange was put to shame by the sloppiest Yugo I ever drove, the clutch was horribly heavy, the brakes spongy to extreme. It didn't have brake fade, but only because in order to have fade you have to have something to fade from, and it didn't. The only thing they got right about it was the rustproofing, which meant that the thing was annoyingly hard to kill.

The engine was alright, though. I ended up putting it into a canal boat which, as far as I know, is still chugging.

Rant over.

I replaced the Maestro with a rather lovely Yugo 513L (called Anastasia - the Zastav(i)a) which has served me beautifully as an everyday car for 3 years and is currently undergoing a mini-restoration as a reward. My current (working) cars are 1) a Volvo 740 (dull but 240000 miles and still reliable), 2) a bedford rascal campervan (tiny and slow but such, such fun to drive) and 3) a Mazda MX5 (which is technically my wife's car but an absolute hoot).

Oh, and I drive a mate's All-Aggro around too. That's rubbish as well, and it doesn't even have the quartic steering wheel to provide interest and inconvenience. Give me a good, solid Samara or Riva or Polonez or 65A any day of the week.

Talking of which, are there any Sanas left? I seem to remeber that there used to be loads, but I haven't seen one for yonks.
