Hmm, ok you've piqued my interest. Maybe I missed something when I read
the IMAP RFCs. I just tried to test this out and I still can't get it to
work (I tried mozilla mail and kmail) so maybe I'm just dense.

Maybe you can help me figure out why I couldn't get any mail client to
use an arbitrary file as INBOX and/or other folders. I tried prefixes, I
tried namespaces, and I can't get it to work. Maybe Courier is broken.
Maybe UW is non-standard and that's why it works for you. I don't know -
I guess we'd have to go to the RFC to be sure.

I just logged in by hand to the IMAP server, and for capabilities this is what I got back:
a001 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 IDLE NAMESPACE MAILBOX-REFERRALS SCAN SORT THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT MULTIAPPEND]

What does Courier say? I was reading through the RFC, but didn't find anything that would solve the mystery. But, I can change the folder where all my mailboxes (sans INBOX) are stored.
