We have also had success printing 8x11 prints with our 2.1 Megapixel camera. Ours is an Olympus, and it's really easy to take the pictures off of it--Windows and Linux simply mount the camera as a USB mass storage device, and then it works as another drive. The only thing that's been difficult is that it's really particular when having other people take pictures, as far as making sure that it's focused by pushing the button down halfway before pushing it the rest of the way. That's just user error, I guess, but I'm pretty sure that there are more user-friendly cameras. But it's been a great camera.
