Charles,
Wow !! Wish I could scrape stuff like that !! All I scrape is the
upholstery trying to get seated .... hmmmmm ... Anyhow ....
my "Sydney Motorcycle Wrecker's" tire fitment chart shows 110/90 and
120/90/18 's as acceptable on 2.15 - 3 inch rims. Clearly this is on
the low end of the scale for fitment. I do know one person with a '94
who is running Pirelli "Route 66 / MT66" tires and they have a
120/90/18 on the front ...... (there is not 110/90/18 available in
that brand anyhow). These are nice looking tires and the front looks
beefier but they are H rated etc, (but then ... so is your Marathon
ML) ... The person who has these says they are fine. I am no tire
expert and I assume you will get much more feedback in reference to
your post ... buttttttttt ... I always thought the "diving" you are
referring to was a result of the shape of the tire ...... and this
Marathon looks like it might be intentionally flat on the center 1/3
of the tire ... for touring stability etc ... and then transitions
rapidly to the outside edge ... but who knows ... ??!? Sounds like you
need radials !! You could get the stock rear widened and turned into a
17 incher ... then run a 110/80/18 on the stock front wheel or get it
widened too ....... (of course you are getting closer to the ground
again ... hmmmm ... but with just doing the rear you could run Azaros
AV35/36 or a whole bunch others). If you just want fatter tires ... it
sounds like the ME880 would be the ticket .... they have a 120/90/18
and a 170/80/15, (that fits).
