Campbell,

I've been giving your post some serious thought. I bought this Vmax knowing
full
well she'd surprise me and I wouldn't get her roadworthy without investing
lots
of
time, effort, energy, and cash. But the journey from sow's ear to silk
purse
will be
very educational for me. I'll learn everything about this bike before it's
over
and
one day I'll be answering newbie questions instead of asking them.

Besides, she'll be the baddest '85 Vmax around <S>.

I'll bid on Ben's bike nonetheless - it can't hurt. I've already contacted
him.
 Thanks
for the tip.

Regards,
Kevin

Kevin,
Good luck on cleaning/replacing your gas tank .... However .. it
sounds like you are still in trouble for a lot of parts .... I was
looking at Ben's '91, (with the front end damage), on EBay ... This
bike looks "good" ... have you considered picking up a donor bike ??
It appears this bike is still running well under $1500 bucks and has a
good engine w/ 14K ... You might pick up a good engine for re-sale
here, (to offset your expense), and obtain all the parts you need in
the bargain ... just a thought .....
