Terry,
The ones that I thought could be adapted the easiest were the IDF
style Throttle Bodies, 2930 series, at
http://twminduction.com/tb/idf.html ......... the TWM home page is
http://www.twminduction.com/ .... These are 90mm bore to bore and the
Vmax carbs are 100mm ... they are 88mm tall .. almost exactly the same
height as the stock carbs, (the smallest bore however is 40mm ...
which is pushing it a bit and they aren't that reasonably priced).
With some spigot to flange adapters and about a 1/4 inch spacer on the
block side of the stock intake manifolds these would line right up. It
would not be a big deal to have a flange to flange manifold made using
tubing between the flanges instead of putting spacers under the
stockers. There is enough room between banks to accommodate fuel rails
but I found injector adapters at MSD that allow feeding of the
injectors with individual hoses from a fuel block, (would this look
cool or what !!). I also found some super small injectors at
http://www.rceng.com/prices.htm ... they have some 155cc/min guys
there that I think would be perfect .... anything around 15lbs per
hour I thought should be fine ...... Of course ... I have been looking
at those 50mm throttle bodies off of Civics and Saturns as well ...
(one big one) ... as it seems this would make it easier to accommodate
throttle cables and eliminate a lot of expense, (of course now you
really have to have a manifold made). For sequential injection and
more precise ignition control an index wheel can be mounted on the
camshaft where the chain sprocket attaches ... or ... since these IDF
guys shoot just below the throttle plate it would not be a big deal to
batch fire off the crank. Hmmmmmm ... don't get me started ..... I
assume you have checked out Kinsler, (they have some little cuties
they use for snowmobiles etc). This is why I was after Dale Walker
last year about the manifold they were going to use with their two
barrel carb setup ... because then you could use their manifold with a
Holley type throttle body single barrel with one big 60lb injector on
top and batch fire all day ... as a cheap way to get going ...... sigh
..... what I could do if I weren't such a slug .... Don't be looking
at those velocity stacks on the TWM page or the air filters that go
with them !!
