If you keep your anti-virus up to date, this worm is no big cause for alarm.
It's very similar to the Happy99.exe. It replicates and mails itself just
like Happy99 did. It carries no destructive payload (just like Happy99)
What makes it a concern is... IF you don't run a good AV program and keep it
updated, AND you become infected, all of your passwords and ID's (ICQ, IRC,
DUN, network logon, etc.) can be retrieved by the worm and sent to the
author or sender. This person can then forge your identity and make the bad
stuff happen.
The moral is: Use a good antivirus software such as Norton, McAfee, F-Prot,
etc. and keep it up to date. If you find you have been infected, or if you
suspect so, go to the site Scott provided http://vil.nai.com/vil/wm98500.asp
or to http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/prettypark.worm.html and
follow the directions. This can be removed without using an anti-virus
product (if you are so foolhardy as to not use one). If you find yourself
lost, feel free to shoot me a mail and I'll offer my services for free to
listers. If you need to contact me during the day use [EMAIL PROTECTED]
But of course since we're all beings of a superior bent this won't be
necessary. Right?! <BFG!>
Still buzzed off of that beautiful sunset I just put to bed. Happy to be a
'Maxer and alive on a beatiful day like today! Peace, all...
