Scott,
You could do what I did, and posted a while back. This may also be a good
write up for the V-boost. I called it:

Poor Man's Tail Section...

Remove the stock rear Max fender and seperate it from the metal bracket/tail
light assembly. Hold the taillight assembly in place with the tail light
tightly in place between the grab rail. I then marked the metal section that
supports the light through the hole in the grab rail, drilled it, then used
a long bolt to secure it to the grab rail. Viola! Shortened tail section.
