Melting battery box

Has anyone come up with a simple solution to the problem of headers melting the 
battery box?  I am considering using the composit heat shielding that is used in the 
floor of race cars but I am not sure what to stick it on with.  I suppose it could be 
done with high temp RTV of maybe even 3M adhesive.  Is there a simpler solution?
