Chris,
Did you have your sidestand down when you were shifting into gear ??
If so .. I think there is an interlock routine ... have to try this
when it is daylight ... I am pretty sure, (without going out and
testing it), you are OK if it sees the clutch switch, (from the handle
grip). See if you can't re-create the problem with the sidestand down.
