Bruce,
I punched your figures into my "speed" spreadsheet ... annnndddddd ...
if you are running a stock tire, (rolling radius of 12.47 inches), you
are turning 9900 RPM at 134.35 MPH in forth gear ..... If you were to
shift into 5th at this speed you would be turning 8500 RPM ... Soooooo
.... if you shift into 5th and pull 9K RPM you will be doing 142.14
MPH ... and, (IMHO), I think that would be very very good for 4400
feet elevation ... (you lose 3% power for every 1000 feet of elevation
on a normally aspirated engine ... allegedly) ....... I am looking at
a Cycle World, (Nov '93), test here on a 1994 model that they claim
dynoed at 109 RWHP and attained a top speed of 143 MPH on the road,
(they were riding it ... this was not calculated). They claim they
dynoed a '93 at 115 RWHP but do not state any speed attainment figures
and I do not have a test from them for that year. Uhhhh ... never mind
... I am not even going to ask why ....
