Been experimenting with a 97 and 98 max. Both low mileage stock bikes. Have
been comparing several of the minor mods discussed on the list. BUT find
both bikes are toping out at 133 to 134 MPH. This is 4th gear approximatley
8500 to 9000 RPM.(a little hard to read the SMALL tach without my readers at
that speed).The elevation where we ride is 4400 plus feet. Is this "normal"

Bruce, are you riding with or without a windshield & what size? At your
elevation I usually get 135 to 138 mph with Yamaha's large customline
windshield and I use 5th gear. At lower elevations I can get 140. If I use
a smaller shield & tuck in I can get 145 at 1000ft. This is with an all stock
97. I have more a problems with handling. Chassis work is my project this
year on my 97. Tim VMOA #1036
