I have them.  They work fine.  Do the weld-on ones work better?
Who knows, maybe they do.  But Walker's clamp-on make a big 
improvement.  They don't slip.  But if you have
a Corbin seat they may rub the seat.

One of the reasons I wanted clamp-on is so that I can take the
bike back to stock if I ever want to.

But then, I got 'em used, cheap.  If I had to pay full price I'd
have considered weld-on.
