I am in the process of shimming the needles on my
89 Venture Royal.

The flat washer that sits on top of the needle
clip, that the little spring sits on is, .020in
thick. I have moved this washer under the clip
which should raise the needles .020in.

I then added another washer (found in my washer
collection) that measures .030in thick and put it
on top of the clip for the little spring to rest
on. This keeps the needle pushed down.

What is the purpose of the spring loading on the
needle that allows it to push up against spring
pressure slightly??

After shimming the needle I have lost most of
this ability for the needle to move up and down
against the spring pressure. Does this Matter???
