Cory-It's not difficult to change out the swing arm. I pulled mine recently to
re-pack the bearings. Remocve the wheel, remove the shocks, remove the final
drive, remove the swing arm bearing support bolts and it'll come right out. My
seals looked good ('97) so I reused them. If yours are over 5 yrs old I'd
replace them. It's quite easy if you don't have the stock exhaust. With the
stock exhaust you have to loosen it and drop it slightly to get the swing arm
out. Repack the swing arm bearings and torque to spec. Be sure to grease the
drive shaft splines with a moly based grease. Clean the wheel drive splines
well and grease generously. If these get dry, you can chew them up quick, then
you're looking at a new ring and pinion. (read-expensive) Total time shouldn't
be over 1 hour. It helps to have a shop manual. Go for it.
